It starts from my toes, and I wrinkle my nose

Monday, January 08, 2007 goodness. I just realised that my saturday post has disappeared into thin air. Darn blogger. And it was a nice entry =( boo.

First day at work today though it isnt exactly work right now since we're undergoing training yet we're being paid and are provided FREE, worth eating, lots of variety lunch. Makes me sound like a pig but nah I dont eat that much. Yet you should see the MOUNTAINS that the China people eat. Including the China girls. like seriously MOUNT Everest.

Well ok lets recount what I did during those 8 hours in Swissotel's rather miserable communiation's office. A team of us went round the hotel rooms changing the phone templates in each room. If there were people in the room(which was hardly) then we'll wait for them to open for us, if not we use the card key to open it, put the templates and slack in the room. Like seriously slack. We laid on the bed, sat on the chairs and prop our legs up, checked out the toilets. stuff like that.Hey dont think cause we're lil kids then we go around doing that k.There were two permeanent staff with us, one 24 and another around late 30s and it was them tht slacked most of the way. And after our rounds they brought us to the cafeteria to get snacks. Being 'guai' I didnt get anything but the rest ate tau hui -_-. lol.

Ok then we had training by the assistant manager,Melvin. And our dear A.M. is...ahem...how shld I put it. Not straight. He's well...not gay. He's...well different. And its not me. It's a true fact in the office. Yeap. My first job in the real world man. Training wasnt boring but it was draining. We had plenty to learn and much more to memorise. But at leat he's an interesting chap who craps around a lot so it was bearable. Told us who to stay away from in the various departments, told us the weird people and their characteristics and just kinda made training a pleasent time thankfully. By the end of it all, all of us were gone. Super tired.

Apparently full time staff has its plus points. They are entitled to 50% off all 10 of the resturants in the 2 hotels, both Swissotel the Stamford and Raffles the Plaza. How great is that. And while people complain of getting sick of hawker food, they actually dare to complain that they were sick of resturant food. Sometimes these people have too many lovely things in their lives that they dont know how to appreciate it.

And there were lots of stories from the office staff abt what they've seen when they have to interact with the hotel guests. Ok before I tell any, here's the standard procedure that they follow. They press the bell and call out "Communications" refering to the branch that they're in. When nobody answers the door the first time, they do it a second time. But when nobody open'd it they open it with the card key and enter just like i said earlier. So once, this girl after calling out twice had to open the room herself. The room was pretty dark cause the curtains were drawn as some guests are too freaking lazy to open it so as she walked into the room she couldnt see anything clearly. yet she heard this Ugh Ugh Ugh sound. Realizing what it was, she walked out as fast as she could. Thankfully the guests didnt realise that a worker had just intruded their private moment =). Another one was when this idiot man opened his door to answer the bell in his underwear. Why are there these kind of people in this world? I wonder.

And thats as much that I can type into this blog. The shifts that I got are pretty disgusting. 11am-7pm from tuesday to sat straight. its DISGUSTING. I cant go anywhere at all. I oly have sundays to live for at the moment.

From secondary school to work...not an easy thing. Not easy at all. You've left you're protective shield behind once you start work. A lot of bitching goes on and thats even in a small office of less then 20 people at a time and you're exposed to a lot of ungodly, worldly ideas and stuff that will test your standards. All I have to say is be prepared for it.

My first day and i've experienced everything. Even non-straight people. Shakes head. For goodness sake, I'll gladly say it this time. I'm only 16.
