Tuesday, February 27, 2007 Everybody's asking me as to what ive been doing the past two days since i've quit work. Well i've definitely taken the opportunity to sleep in lots. And use the computer. And watch tv. And exercise. Yay for time. Currently I only have friday occupied. Going down to Sentosa with Jayne and Gui Feng to tan. Just the 3 of us. A cosy affair. =) other than that im free so ask me out anytime!

There's a few movies that i've been wanting to catch like norbit and letter from iwo jima. So if any of you are interested in watching them, call me. I'll be right down. haha.

Come 10 march will be bridging activities where we'll be having a meal(which i suppose is dinner) and a movie, camping out at the void deck of the church, sitting on mats and pillows watching School of Rock. Now dont ask me why in the world School of Rock cause im not the one who is organising it. But i guess it'll be pretty cool, lounging and lazing around with your friends.
One thing's for sure. I cant go to somebody's commissioning parade. Oops. hahaha. I suggested to Sam that we get all the SFers to come instead of watching the movie going to his parade will be the bridging event instead haha.

Since im typing about SF activities I might as well start promoting the Spirit Flux concert. OK GUYS LISTEN UP: SET ASIDE YOUR AFTERNOON AND EVENING ON 30 JUNE 2007 FOR A FUNFILLED TIME OF MUSIC, GAMES AND LOTS MORE. Another incentive is that you're dear friend right here is planning it together with some other SFers so come and support!

Well frankly speaking the planning is still in its initial stages and im trying to get the budget set and everything.But with the great planning committee that we have and i/c's for the various committees im certain the running will go smoothly. =) see i have faith in you all. More over God is helping us so its going to be a blast planning it.

SF CNY visitation today. Had a great time at aunty somporn's and andrew's place. Lunch was steamboat which made me skip dinner cause i was and still am full. Andrew's place was more of for discussion and eating junk food. haha but not a lot cause Gracia's family hogged the living room and made us reside in Andrew's room on the second floor.

I've suddenly lost interest in blogging for today. must be because of Sam. bleh. i could wring your neck. xD. dont worry i wont kill you. just injure.

Monday, February 19, 2007 Chinese new year has been pretty mundane for me so far with very little visits and what with my mom not bothering to invite people to our house. So its been a quiet affair, nothing special. Shrugs.



My Dad's colleague came to visit in the morning today and he had his two girls with him. One just started primary sch and the other age 5. Adorable to a certain extent yet with parents such as their's they dont know when to stop. The young one can consume up to 20 sweets a day and the parents do nothing bout it though the know that it isnt goodfor her teeth. Yet they give the excuse that its the only thing that will keep her happy and calm and not run about like a ball of fire. But seriously, are some parents that oblivious or ignorant about the negative prospects their kids face when they grow older? Lets say decayed teeth or diabetes? Do they not care for their childrens well being? tsk. some people.



But the older girl is more sensible. She doesnt have an english name so her mom said that she was quite upset about it cause everybody in her primary school class had an english name. So we were telling her that when she grow older she'll be able to choose her own english name. Then she said this 'I want Samantha, like jie jie. I like that name' hahahaha. For that she deserves another ang bao. *grins*




Visited my dad's god brother near HCI and nanyang girls sch.Its a annual affair tha we only visit them during chinese new year. Some rich man in a bungalow with a daughter in primary 3. Sadly the mom passed away when she was born. But the daughter's growing up to be a beauty. Pretty girl, all for sports especially golf. Too bad I didnt bring my camera along, if not i'll have taken a picture of her.



Well other than that its been to visit my cousins but even so 1 of my cousins has left for australia and the other will be leaving on wed as well. Then it'll only be my younger cousin staying by himelf with my grandparents, maid and dad at home. Its pretty sad that right now we're quite distant from each other. We hardly meet up or talk to each other though when we wee young I used to stay over at their house a lot and go there for dinner every weekend. Those days are sorely missed by me.



At least i have this sunday to look forward to. CNY family visitation which will end with us aving dinner at roger's house. Funn.

Saturday, February 17, 2007 yesterday's movie chill out session wasnt exactly a success. It only consisted of Matt, Marcu, Gracia and I so we had the whole living room to ourselves. But everyone was too tired to enjoy the shows. Next time im not renting any movies. Matthis foo you go and rent them yourselves and let me save my $10! haha. I still think that The Guardian was a good choice made by me yet they dont know how to appreciate these kind of shows. -_-" NOT MY FAULT.

Had dinner at macs, then walked to Matt's house.He wanted to cut his hair, but i volunteered to cut it for him. Only the fringe. In the end Marcu told him: go to the barber. its safer.... Fine Marcu. Throughout the whole distance we covered I have to admit gracia was reciving much of the brunt of Matt's and my suaning. But she'll get used to it. Its the norm aye gracia? haha. Stayed till 11 then Marcu's mom drove me home. The next time we'll have a stayover yea? With much more people that is.

I had bball date with my friends before the chillout session though. And thanks to that I've developed a very unsightly blister at the front side of my foot because my bball shoelace kept on rubbing itself against my foot and the stupid flap for the shoe couldnt stay put between my foot and the shoelace. Seems like this pair of shoes only always gives me trouble and blisters whenever I wear them. pooouf.

As for an update on the enbloc of minton rise, some of the ah soo clan has already bought their new houses but wont be moving in soon. My family is still in the midst of searching for the perfect house since the one we wanted had been sold =(. Bishan has none for sale and so does the estate around matt's house. Blame my mom for being too picky cause she refuses to buy a three storey house hence it isnt that easy to find 2 storey houses with big gardens. oh wells. When the time is right, God will provide.

Thursday, February 15, 2007 The roads were filled with pretty girls in dresses carrying bouquets of flower and their male companion in tow @ 12 midnight yesterday. While joanne, her mom and I were trying to get a cab,(which we did after an hour) the rest of the world was busy strolling down the streets along raffles city and C.H.I.J.M.E.S. All i had on my mind though was to get into a cab and go home. I didnt care about what was happening around me. Today though would be different. I have to take a train myself at 11.30 at night. I loath going home by myself at such late hours. To top it off, Joanne has officially quit work, which leaves just me in the department. The youngest there. Ugh. Should I quit? Well even if i do I've already been scheduled to work next week starting from tuesday so if you all wanna come and visit me on tuesday for CNY come only after 3 30 pm. Oh and post your comment on my board if i should quit heh.

Yesterday's work did past rather quickly including break time which I did not want it to. It isnt always that I get to spend dinner time eating with other people and yesterday i got to =). Apparently I had 6 missed calls all from dear Gracia so I was wondering 'oh no is she in any trouble or something'. But when I called her...it was more of wait wait wait you talk to matthias! I was like huh. haha. They wanted to have dinner with me yet they insisted tht I take the train down to dhouby ghaut to find them at PS. Please I only have an hour of break yet Matthias was all 'You come down la come down 1 hour very long can make it' Tsk. In the end I reasoned with them that i couldnt go down even if I wanted to cause my EZ link card was with the security guard in exchange for my office pass. So they had to come down hahaha. Further more I didnt have any cash to spend on dinner since I was previously intending to eat in the cafeteria whcih i do not have to pay. So Gracia paid for me. =DD. How cool is that. haha.

Ok apart from work i've been seriously looking at the courses available in the Navy and Air Force but practically all of them is under engineering so I guess its not for me =/.

Now let me complain about how I feel that Valentines day has become so, extremely commercialised that it has lost its true meaning. Seriously, I walked past a florist and they had this cardboard box outside their shop filled with roses that were packed as a stalk on its own. For that ONE rose, it was priced at TWELVE BUCKS. I can buy 12 roses on a normal day please. Goodness. Further more, not that im condoning or discouraging friends giving each other(since im one of them) but yet dont you realise that Valentines day is really for people who are..how do I put it...ok Valentines day are for lovers yet students and friends are taking this opportunity to give gifts to their friends. In this way the essence of what valentines day is suppose to mean is lost and the students splurge on their allowance to buy flowers on valentines day which isnt exactly a very wise thing as you can see from what i've previously typed. $12. Im stll trying to get over the shock. haha. I think i'll grow my own roses in time for next valentines day and sell it for $6. still a profit plus its half price of all the other stores.

Enough about flowers and hearts and love since its well over. Im playing basketball with Zoey, Moli and Nathaniel tomorrow. Ester and group come down after sch! we need more people!

Tuesday, February 13, 2007 I've submitted my application already. =) yay for me.

Sunday was spent answering friends' and the SF comms questions on how I faired for O's and what were my plans. At that point in time I was still contemplating whether or not I should apply for SAJC or ACJC. Even if I did apply, getting accepted into the school was another issue.

Well after bs and stuff, gracia and I walked down to the busstop as we intended to take the bus to bishan then walk to her house. Thankfully, while we were standing i the sweltering heat of the afternoon just about to melt my dad called and we went by car. Anyway so we spent 5 hours at her house which was expected since not only were my parents there but some others as well. Yikkaty yak they went so we had loads of time deciding whether or not to crash AC the next day. I even suggested crashing RJ and finding marcu. hahaha. Aunt Lee Shya had made and bought ingredients for all of us to make our own popiahs so with nothing better to do we sat down at the table, spent our time making and deciding what to put on the skin. By the time I made mine gracia had kind of eaten 1 whole popiah...without creating it. She was picking from each container and eating everything separately, including the skin. haha. ok and so thus for sunday. We pigged out.

OH oh! had this funny conversation with my officer from work. She called to find out when i would be able to start work again so that she could schedule our timing.
" Wednesday can huh?"
"Yeap from wednesday onwards I can start as usual except for CNY"
" oh ok, then can already. yupp see you on wedesday"
"ok bye."
just about to press the button wen i heard someone shouting
"eh eh! you sure wednesday can work?!"
" ermmm yeaa? why cannot work?"
" Valentines day lei" *in this very awed voice*

after that i was like huh. I didnt understand the convo for a while then it dawned on me and i couldnt stop laughing. Ok ok i know. cheap thrill. bleh.

Monday we crashed ACJC at 1 00pm. lol. and my friends that crashed...well they all went home when i just came. But i was with gracia so who cares. ahaha. People said that the security gurd would give us trouble when we walk in. But he didnt even bother to stop us at all. maybe its cause we're both wearing different uniforms so he didnt think that we would be able to crash together. hmmm. Met quite a lot of pl girls when we entered the sch and for all of them the first thing that came out of their mouths were" YOU CRASHED IS IT!?" Well durh? Have you seen me in tis sch since january? so not. haha. Talked to xiu, darsh, jolene and some other. But since we didnt have any lectures to crash we left within an hour. we took 1 1/2 hours to travel there and we only stayed there for an hour. A crasher's record.

Went shopping @ orchard in our unis...yes i know its kinda disgusting to shop in a pinafore having to first take off the pinafore then the blouse. it just spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E-S-O-M-E. Had a late lunch cosisting of some dimsum at wisma went into every and any shop that caught our eye and tried on at least something haha. Right now we have this thing against dresses cause they look so pretty on display yet when we try them its...ugh. So we'll just stick to admiring them and wearing skirts. hahaha.

Today was shopping at vivo with my mom though i didnt really buy anything except for a blouse. The things there were either freaking ex or the designs were too disgusting to be call clothes. Oh but they had this huge Ralph Lauren booth up promoting the new love scent perfume and the whole area was in pink with real pink roses everywhere! I was so tempted to take a bunch of them since they wont miss it. They've far too many to count. like seriously everywhere. haha. Thankfully my mom held me back. heh.

Ok. I like have work at 3-11pm tomorrow? How sick is that timing? very.

Friday, February 09, 2007 Results results results. Sigh. I can still remember the day i trudged back home after receiving PSLE results and spent the whole day crying cause I received 228 hahaha.

Well this time it wasnt that bad only that i did cry when I found out that we had 100% pass for pure physics. That was even before I received my results. When i went up to get my results i told ms ferng: "Ms ferng, I dreamt yesterday that i got 21 points!" She asked me what i wanted to do so I told her then she looked at my results and said: " Can. Just dont do science anymore! congrat you got 5 A's" After that all i did was cry. lol. Ailing had to help me tear my result slip open. 13 points. Sigh. I wanted 10pts and below. 13. As many people say, its a ot here not there kind of score. If I were to get below 10 I would have definitely gone to ACJC. Now its possible for me to enter AC but on the other hand I wat to go to poly as well. JC has this disincentive of CHINESE. yikes.

Ok dont know if it'll turn out big enough for you all to view it properly, but these snapshots are just little snippets of what happened after Sf day. Including Joel sleeping on the 'church' roof. The poor innocent boy was victim of our many pictures, psing naturally for the camera together with stuff toys and amused friends. =D

Crashing NY today was a blast. We cabbed there cause ANG ZIQING came late so she missed the bus, Zoey and I camped out in the toilet dring assembly then went for Econs tutorial with Qing. After that we went for PE. Qing lent me her orientation shirt and i was swimming... drowning... gone in it. hahaha. Played captains ball but it wasnt your typical captains ball. We played with a small spongey ball the size of your hand and so it went bouncing everywhere. And i quote from ZiQing's classmate, " ZiQing! If you didnt bring your friends today your team would have lost already la!" hahaha Thank You Thank You. We went for chem lecture after that, in which i spent the session reading bball magazine and trying to understand a wee little bit of what the teacher was saying. Well at least I got the hang of the orbital structure.

After that for a changed we crashed Hui Qi's CT class. When we walked in the teacher was like "and which JC are you from?" I dint know what to say so i said "PLJC" heh. I think he heard it as Pioneer JC. Darn. Ah ma's CT class was fun. Well to a certain extent. Considering that the guys got into trouble earlier in the day for attempting to open a toilet cubicle which they thought was their friend but it was a guy teacher shitting. lol. Boy did they get into hot soup. So they were making this big fuss and the CT tutor couldnt understand why they even had to attempt to open the cubicle. The poor boy was the butt of joke for the rest of the day.

And so that was what we did for the day, met up with ex classmates, made new acquaintances, fooled around and wandered around the school.

I'm looking forward to crashing NY tmr! Seems like im going there only to use the gym(if we decide to) and to take part in PE class. muahaha. Wish me all the best! haha. my first destination would be the toilet. hurr. to wait there during assembly.

Ruth Yu asked me to play for SWS worship service this coming sunday. maybe it was all planned by God that i'd exchange my worship with Gervais so that now he's leading SF worship this sunday and I can help out in SWS worship. God planned indeed. haha. That means there's worship practice tomorrow night. =D

Valentine's day is approaching, Chua's giving sweets to her 4 girl classmates and OG mates. As for me I wont be getting any sweets or flowers from my girlfriends this year other than AILEEN! haahaha. And during work i'll have to continue taking down Valentine's day dining reservations for the guests. hahaha. Oh man, can you imagine a dinner for 2 at Equinox on the 69 level? Sigh...GRACIA! Lets book a table for ourselves. XD

Its gross how people pronounce certain words. "AHHH CAN I HAVE LOOM LESERVATIONS AH?" "Room Reservations mdm?" "YAH YAH LOOM LESERVATIONS" Ugh. By the end of the day, im half deaf on my left side of the ear. "Can I speak to Jo PU-AH please" Scratch my head "Mdm could you aid me in the spelling of the last name pls?" "Er yes, is Phua" TSKTSK. You can imagine how i feel when i get these kind of callers. Especially the Loom Leservations kind. And those that GIVE YOU THE WRONG SPELLING OF THE NAME AND SCOLD YOU FOR BEING UNABLE TO FIND THE GUEST. these people are nincompoops seriously. And when you tell them that they've spelt the name wrongly they just say Oh and DONT BOHER TO APOLOGISE. Those reading this entry, make sure you're not one of those arses in the future.

Monday, February 05, 2007 Some people are just so disgusting.Take this person for example: She starts talking about touchy issues with her friend, gets all emotional and cry herself to sleep only to wake up in the morning with puffy eyes, drag herself to work in shorts and t-shirt, intending to change in the department only to search frantically in her voluminous bag for her long pants and blouse which she insisted she brought but was left on the sofa at home. She thinks, "what a sucky way to start the day and week. I've no clothes and I cant see half of what im suppose to see because of my poofy eyes. Such an idiot you are" Thankfully her oh-so-nice colleague lends her a skirt to wear and she makes it through the day.

Yet things dint brighten up at all for her when se came home. How her parents talk and lecture, they tell her stuff that she doesnt want to hear, they set boundaries that she wants to break free, they say No to half the things she does. Yet they want her to continue to work even when her friends are leaving and she doesnt feel comfortable in that place with so many leech-y people. Her mom insists that she stays put, she has nothing to say. They tell her, dont go out with them. She wants to. Yet what can she do?

Sunday, February 04, 2007 SF day today! Garage and breakfast sale was a success. Excluding breakfast we raised over 1700 bucks in just 1 day! Praise God! Seriously I doubted that we would be able to raise that amount just from garage sale alone but we did it. Well it definitely includes the generous amounts that some people gave for serenading which was actually charged at 50CENTS per song yet my dad and gervais's dad gave 50 each. If only my dad was as generous to me. sigh. hahaha.

The church and coffee shop was filled with lime green shirts, loud singing and laughter most of the time. Other than receiving 2 hard knocks by the soccer ball on my side of the face and hip, today's event went well indeed.

Next up would be the Spirit Flux concert. And its up to our family to run it the best we can. Well currently i'm only in the planning stages. Yikes. We need to hold meetings and practices quick! Sam hurry come back from thailand to help me in training the vox! hahaha.

Saturday, February 03, 2007 Its saturday, and saturday means bballing and marksmen practic later in the afternoon. How great is that.

The past week has been pretty uneventful in the department other than finding myself settling down a little more with my colleagues and managers. My colleagues especially have been extremely helpful when i shout HELP and need somebody to assist me with a particular guest or dialling a number. You have to understand that dialling overseas numbers is a complex, non-understandable area which I've never really be able to comprehend. Its disgusting that we have so many different numbers to dial overseas, like 9001 or 9012 or whatevers else there is. The thing is, i neverknow when to use which and that includes AT & T numbers.

Guests as well can be a real pain in the neck when you talk to them on the phone. They cut you off when you're trying to complete your verbaige as quickly as possible, they insist that they've given you the exact, correct spelling of the guest name yet you're unable to find it (only to later find out its of a different spelling), they slam down the phone without even a thank you or ask you to wait while they talk happily to another person at their end of the line. Inconsiderate little brats I must say. Their parents didnt do a good job of bringing them up.

Yet some others do make your day with their patience when you're trying your best to search for the guest, or with a simple thank you, lovely, great, these words do affect those that work in this line cause thats about how much compliment we get in our work. Yet most of the times, while we're waiting to receive calls we're talking between ourselves which will almost always end up in causing each one of us to start laughing hysterically.

The thing is, while you're in the midst of laughing, the board sounds and you HAVE to pick up the call, so what you do is to control your laughter first, finish your verbaige then when the caller is making their demands you cover your mouth and finish laughing. Sometimes the caller will be able to here a giggle or two though, and they themselves could well be the cause of laughter. Once, I received a call from some african guy who was looking for a Zimbabwe woman in our hotel. The reception was not good, considering that he was calling all the way from Africa so it apparently took some time for him to hear me after ive spoken. And his reply is always yes mdm. Yes mdm. Only that it didnt sound like mdm. It sounds like mum. You know when your maid refers to your mum as mdm but it actually sounds like mum. Yea ok. Another time I received a call from an in-house guest who wanted to speak to the duty manager. Obviously i had to ask what was it regarding and so the guest paused and said "a dangerous situation". I kind of freaked out since he sounded as if he was on the brink of sucide and had this depressive tone. So i told him i'll get the DM to call him. I had to call the DM first to inform her of this particular guest and when I myself told her " a dangerous situation" she shouted "a dangerous situation?!" meant to be rhetorical. Some people are just plain weird...and so you get a good laugh listening to these kind of people on the phone.

Well aside from work, some of us just sent one of our friend's(sam sua) off to switzerland where she'll be studying for 4 years (HTM). Rightt. I'm taking HTM in ply and shes going to Switzerland. hahaha. Even if I had the opportunity to go i wouldnt go this year. But if I decide to continue my studies in HTM i'll be going there as well after poly. =)) The water taps were turned on when she was going in. Personally for me i've known her for 6 years, starting from primary 5 where we would walk to school together and have long, heated(friendly) arguments about everything and anything. Most of the time the arguments ended when we walked into our classroom but there was this one time when it got so bad we didnt speak to each other for a week yet we continued to go to school with each other. When we finally resolved our differences and talked to each other again, we realised that we couldnt remember what we argued over. Tsk.Each year we would also go chinese new year visting, first having lunch at her house then walking to the nearby houses to collect ang bao and play cards. laughs. We'd used sweets as bets*oops* and stuffed ourselves with goodies. So yesterday when I sent her off it was of these memories we carried together, how sam used to refuse to wear a skirt and when she finally did, she wore shorts underneath it uptill now, how she would always talk about her boy cousins and show me their pictures and i'll just go hmmm and sound interested but didnt care a hoot about them cause they didnt look good, how we played soccer in the field during primary sch recesses and in the classroos till we had our ball confiscated but bought another one to sch the next day and how we would write ltters to each other every week though we sat near each other. Pleasent memories indeed that can always be carried in ou minds and hearts yet we have to understand that one day most of us will be separated.
